Reactions after viewing “Enchanted”

–  Watching the opening scenes with the traditional hand-drawn animation was refreshing.  It was just wonderful.  I miss that look so much.  I mean, the computer graphics we see all the time these days are great, but can’t we have a pretty cartoon once in a while?

–  Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden are two of the most attractive people I can think of.

–  Amy Adams is cute as a button.

–  Why did they cast Idina Menzel in a non-singing role?

–  I don’t care if the roaches and rats and pigeons made everything cleaner, I still don’t want them cleaning MY house.

–  The animated Timothy Spall looks just like the real-life Timothy Spall.

–  What a delightful movie.  It was just so fun.  The filmmakers were consciously making fun of the princess-movie genre, but they did so without being negative at all.  It was a great “yeah, we know they’re dorky, but we love them anyway” attitude.

I just can’t express how delightful this movie was. I grinned through most of it, though I admit that I went in with fairly low expectations. It’s the best side of Disney I’ve seen for a WHILE. I loved the writing as well as the execution. Amy Adams was especially *just right* for this role.
