I need to set the scene a little for this quote…
The T&T (Truth & Training) kids are in 3rd-5th(ish) grades. These are the kids I hang out with each week. When we break into groups, we separate the boys from the girls, but during game time, we’re all together.
Game time at AWANA is much like Whose Line is it Anyway?, “where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.” I’m glad the game leaders award points - it helps keep the kids interested and competitive, but the glory the winners receive is very short-lived. The teams are made up of different members each week, so there aren’t really any long-term advantages to winning.
*Anyway,* tonight the scores between the top two teams were very close. It was neck and neck the whole way through. At one point during the evening, I witnessed this conversation (and now we’re finally making it to the quote of the week):
Boy #1: Hey, what team are you on?
Boy #2: Red. We’re beating you.
