Just an update

Hello, gentle readers.  I realize it’s been quite a while since I’ve given you all any actual information about my life, so I thought it might be time for an update.  I’m going give you the information the way I do it best: bullet-style.

–  Work continues to be really good.  I love my job at Harris Music Studio.  My student load has increased this semester, and it looks like I might even add a few more students since I extended my availability to include Saturday mornings.  Right now I have 32 students, so I could potentially be pushing 40 within the next couple months.  I’m also continuing work on the music library.  All of the music we have at the office is being cataloged, entered into a database, photocopied, organized into binders, etc.  It’s not a thrilling task, but it provides a lot of satisfaction for me.

–  I’ve also started my second semester working with the junior homeschool orchestra.  We only get to meet every other week, so I don’t see these students as often as I’d like.  In January we added two new members - a violinist and a cellist.  Last semester our personnel only included violins and a viola, so I’m excited to have a little more sound from the bass end.  Already the sound is a little beefier and more grounded.

–  The leaders at Zion Church have decided to be intentional about Lent (the 40 days prior to Easter) this year.  They are encouraging the congregation to observe this together, and one aspect they’re focusing on is choosing an item to fast from.  After a lot of thought, I decided to fast from the Internet and computer, except for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night.  That will give me enough time to take care of any important communication (including you, faithful readers!), but I won’t be able to waste any time.  I predict that I’ll have a lot more free time on my hands during Lent this year…

–  My sister Kate is considering a move to St. Louis this fall.  She is very interested in attending Covenant Seminary there, and so we’ve decided to take a road trip at the end of February to check it out.  Some friends from church, Darlene (definitely) and Allison (probably), are going to join us on the trip.  I’m really excited to go and see what it’s like.  We’ll be staying on campus in a little apartment, and it sounds like a lot of our activities are already mapped out for us (tours, classes, etc.).

Well, like I said, though I won’t be spending as much time online, my intention is not to neglect you all.  Keep looking for posts in the upcoming months (though there may be fewer links).  :)
