Place the movie quotes

Shamelessly stolen from Lindsey (who stole it from one of her friends), here’s a fun challenge for you.  In case you want to play along on your own blog, here are the rules.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb.com and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Right answers/affirmations will be posted in the comments section accordingly.
5. NO using Google or my Facebook profile or any other use of the intranets to CHEAT.

…So, try to come up with the movie title for each of the following, and post in the comments section.  Enjoy!

1. “Oh, they’re not drumsticks, Dad. They’re weapons.”

2. “Come in, come in! We won’t bite you until we know you better.”

3. “Because You are unjust, unfair, unkind, I will block You, I swear it. I will hinder and harm Your creature on earth as far as I am able.”

4. “What to you want to do, live forever?”

5. “Why did I think you could do this? This one simple thing. It’s like I’m talking to a monkey.”

6. “How can you tell what’s in its spell? How can you tell unless you’ve tried it? Wait for that kiss you’re certain of. And let your heart decide when you’re in love.”

7. “I enjoy getting presents from strange men.”

8. “It’s like in a Hitchcock movie, you know, where they tie you up in a rubber bag and throw you in the trunk of a car. You find people.”

9. “Can you not in the calm excellence of your wisdom reconcile it with your conscience to say something that will ease my father’s sorrow?”

10. “Sting would be another person who’s a hero. The music he’s created over the years, I don’t really listen to it, but the fact that he’s making it, I respect that.”

11. “They wanted me to build them a bomb, so I took their plutonium and in turn, gave them a shiny bomb-casing full of used pinball machine parts!”

12. “When a German scientist tells you to hold on to your hat, it’s not casual conversation. HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT! HAT! HOLD! Good.”

13. “You mean he’ll be in a humour to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men?”

14. “What was I supposed to do - call him for cheating better than me, in front of the others?”

15. “Oh, I’m not here with these fellas. I’ve got a pig in competition over at the livestock pavilion, and I am going to win that blue ribbon!”

Responses

Hey, yours is no cake walk either!

#8 is from the same movie as my #3
#10 Zoolander
#11 Back to the Future
#13 Pride and Prejudice

This is hard!

3. Amadeus
6. Enchanted?
8. Waiting for Gufman
10. Zoolander
13. Pride & Prejudice

#6 is not Enchanted, but that’s a good guess.

All of the other guesses are correct so far.

I’m afraid that when Kate and Bess (and other family members) see this list they’ll totally dominate. We have a shared vocabulary of movie quotes.

I know, I should rule at this, but you’ve stumped me with several. I didn’t know 1, 2, 3, 6, or 8. (But thanks to the others, now I know 3 and 8.)

4 will not be guessed by anyone but a Ghormley — it’s the obscure, delightful Fred MacMurray comedy “Murder He Says.”

5. The Emperor’s New Groove
7. Clue
9. The Pirates of Penzance
12. The Muppet Movie
14. The Sting
15. That Thing You Do

Oh, wait! I just got 6. I think it’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

Ah, I knew I knew #15 - I just couldn’t *quite* place it.

Very good, ladies!

Can anyone place #1 or #2?

I’m posting my responses *before* reading the other comments.

1. …familiar
2. West Side Story
3. …almost
4. Murder He Says
5. …it’s on the tip of my brain
6. …I really don’t know
7. Clue
8. Get Shorty?
9. Pirates of Penzance
10. Zoolander
11. Back to the Future
12. …I don’t think I’ve seen this movie
13. Pride and Prejudice
14. The Sting
15. That Thing You Do

What fun. Totally.

Kate!! Your answers had me laughing so hard. Especially on #12 - “…I don’t think I’ve seen this movie.” Hilarious.

Kate is correct on #2.

I thought if anyone could place #1 it would be Kate. Anyone? Anyone?

I do NOT remember that line (#12). Just another reason I should watch it for the 30th time.

Man, I can HEAR the line from #1, but I cannot place it! I know it’s not “School of Rock”, but I’m at a loss for any other guesses. Grr.

If it’s a “Kate and Anne” movie, my money is on either Romy and Michelle or Night at the Roxbury. I don’t know either of those movies very well, though, and the quote doesn’t quite seem to fit.

These are tough!

3. Les Miserables?
6. Enchanted?
8. Waiting for Guffman
10. Spinal Tap? or Zoolander?
11. Dr. Strangelove?
15. That Thing You Do

Thanks for playing, everyone! Here are all the right answers (contained in the same comment):

1. A Very Brady Sequel [by the way, this movie is pretty good. The Brady Bunch Movie, not so much, but the *sequel* is good]
2. West Side Story
3. Amadeus
4. Murder He Says
5. The Emperor’s New Groove
6. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
7. Clue
8. Waiting for Guffman
9. Pirates of Penzance
10. Zoolander
11. Back to the Future
12. The Muppet Movie
13. Pride and Prejudice
14. The Sting
15. That Thing You Do

DAAH! Of *course* it’s A Very Brady Sequel. Huh-larious.
