Taken its toll

Whenever I hear “This Love” by Maroon 5, I have serious flashbacks to the 2004 RUF summer conference.  We (the Nebraska girls) sang it pretty much nonstop in our dorm room.

The funny thing is, even though I’ve heard it enough times to change the lyrics to “this… song… has… taken its toll… on me,” I still kind of like it.  It’s just so darn catchy.

I totally don’t remember that…was I there that year? I am getting them all confused now. Was that the same year you and I kept saying “how HIGH a ridge I could not tell!”? Or was that 2005? I feel so confused…

Yes, that was the same year - it was actually the only year I was able to go. In 2005 I was student teaching (and taking a trip to California instead of Florida).

Maybe I’m the only one who does associate “This Love” with that trip. I asked Kate about it a year or two ago, and she didn’t even really recognize the song.

Yeah, that FL reference rang almost familiar when I read your post, Anne. I definitely know the SONG (who knows why I didn’t recognize it two years ago when you asked me), and I can well believe that our group of girls got silly with that song… yeah, it seems more familiar the more I try to remember it. :o)

I was *just* looking at photos of you two doing the, “How HIGH a ridge I could not tell!” line. I cannot see those photos without grinning. Huh-larious.

Funny, I have associations with that song too, but in an entirely different scenario: whenever I hear “This Love” I think of the times I drove with a friend to Catholic Mass as that was the song he played in the car over and over.
